So,
like every day you log onto your Facebook
(FB) during your break at
work and you scroll down through your news feed, read status like ‘It’s been a
week since Chris proposed me and I can’t stop staring at my diamond ring
(heart) (heart)’ (These couples just don’t understand the meaning of private
messaging), ‘Dinner at Masa
TakaYama’s, oxygen facial, Louis
Vuitton shopping spree!! –yes it was an awesome weekend’’ (Like, don’t you guys ever run out of money?), UGH! I don’t like this pic of me! (Then why’d
you post it?).These friends of your on Facebook endlessly post about how
awesome their lives are to the point where you feel like punching them virtually
in the face. No wonder visiting Facebook makes one feel depressed
and dissatisfied with social and personal lives.
What braggers! According to the Stanford University report we found out that social networking sites trigger feelings of dissatisfaction, envy, misery and loneliness. The reason? Since people generally use the social media giant Facebook to post good things happening in their lives. Reading post and status update makes the user wonder that everyone else in the world is having more fun than they are. The most common cause of face book frustration come from users comparing themselves socially to their peers and the other dissatisfaction is lack of attention due to less likes or fewer comments compare to others on face book.
It
seems that there are more negative
consequences of socially connected than positive. The negative
consequence of feeling inferior or left out of friends circle can lead to
depression. If this hurtful feeling grow then face book and other social media
may no longer be a fun way to stay connected but could become another source of
stress for people.
Maybe
it’s time to click the close button and start having more real interactions
from now on.
